The results from this study imply virtual environments are less able to impart a lesson. However this contradicts research from many sources such as Delgarno and Lee (2010) and Pan, Cheok, Yang, Zhu and Shi (2006).
Stull and Mayer (2007), believe that learning-by-doing is better than learning-by-viewing. This supports the result; participants in condition 1(extract) were more likely to interpret the moral than participants in condition 2(VLab).
Research conducted suggests morals are more likely to be interpreted as a result of reading. This must be considered as children’s education has been moving towards more technically advanced mediums (Roussou, 2004). While advanced technology is beneficial as an aid to learning, reading remains the foundation upon which learning takes place.
